Domestic cleaning organisation tips
1. Where do I begin?
Well how about getting organised for your cleaning for starters? Ok! I know you do not want to perform this job, but perform it you must. So first of all you must plan and organise. So you glance around the house. 'Where do I begin?' you ask.
There is no set rule contrary to what some people say. E.g. you must do the bedroom first, then the living room etc. It all depends on your circumstances at the moment and your lifestyle.
For instance, you have guests coming for the weekend and it's Friday.
Then you can concentrate on the living room and the kitchen, and then do the other rooms on another day. Or you are having a dinner party. Concentrate on the kitchen first, then the living room etc. etc. It all depends.
Anyway whatever your circumstances you have to make a plan of what you are going
to do. This is where home cleaning organisation comes in.
2. Make a Checklist. Schedule your cleaning Depending on your situation at the moment you schedule which rooms and parts of the house to clean. Then if you will be cleaning regularly make a schedule and stick to it.
Identify areasOnce this is done then check room by room and area by area to choose which parts of it needs attention.
Which parts do you have to concentrate on? What cleaning products do you need to obtain? Choose the tools and utensils needed for the parts of the house that needs cleaning.
A good idea is to prepare a Task Sheet on which you can tick the parts of the home that need to be cleaned in that particular cleaning session.
Keep all cleaning products in one place and take it around with you while you are cleaning. It saves you time running around to get the right tools and products.
In that particular room or house ensure that you obtain and use the correct product. This should have been identified at stage 2.
Use good quality, heavy duty products that do a very good job.
If you have clutter get rid of it. I myself like to keep things that I like for sentimental reasons. However if this is kept around the house then it only makes the cleaning harder having to clean around unnecessary items.
If you must retain such 'junk', then put them in some out of the way part of the home like your loft or outside of the house like a shed or best of all a large rented space like a garage.
If you are a family then identify certain parts of the home where your kids can (or even husband if you can persuade him) clean on regularly. This only has to be a small job but it will lighten the load.
However if you do not want to do any of the above, the best help is hired help, more of which later. You will have to pay but think about the time you save which gives you quality time to spend with loved ones or even to earn more money than you would spend to get someone else to do it.
3. Other planning tips. Clean from top to bottom generally Clean from back to front. Right to leftWhen you go into a room, divide it into 3 levels: Eye level, ceiling level and floor level. Start at the left hand corner (from top to bottom) and work towards the door. Then do the same for the right hand corner, working towards the door.
Concentrate on one area at a time Do a little each day Try to put things where they belong immediately
Doing all the above will help you realise that home
cleaning organisation is worth it.
